SME Chapter

An Introduction

MAIT SME Chapter has been established for the underlying purpose of helping SMEs from the IT manufacturing & services sector to achieve sustainable growth & competitiveness in domestic & global markets; thereby enabling transformation of SMEs into emerging corporates. This will also help in reduction of rising imports of IT and Electronics products and sub-assemblies to our country.

To achieve this objective, the MAIT SME Chapter shall render the following services, for the benefit of ICT SMEs; who would join the Chapter:-

  • Identify emerging business opportunities for SMEs within their operational domains
  • Channelize more investment & funding opportunities to facilitate growth & expansion of SMEs
  • Enhancement of export opportunities
  • Facilitate and further strengthen innovation among SMEs
  • Facilitate growth of SMEs through joint ventures & collaborations
  • Create a conducive environment for SMEs to proactively engage with the Government

Over last several years after liberalization of Indian economy, Indian SMEs have withered several challenges arising due to globalization. They have competed with local and global players and brands and have grown sustainably over years establishing their own brands nationally and internationally.


Indian entrepreneurs have ventured out successfully, entering into several mergers and acquisitions, technology transfers and establishing their global footprints. The innovative ability and enterprising spirit of Indian SMEs have enabled India to become 3rd Most Preferred Investment Destination in the World.


Despite this, SMEs still lack adequate resources to harness their true potential and create utmost value from their competitiveness. They still face several challenges that hamper their growth and development. With the current challenging domestic and international business scenarios where complexities of doing businesses have grown phenomenally, dedicated efforts are required from all the stakeholders to enhance their capabilities and enable these enterprises become globally competitive.
